From Cameroon to Clichy-sur-Seine, the story of a woman, a cuisine, and an African fine dining restaurant like no other.
The Restaurant
It all begins with Marie-Christine
The story of the African fine dining restaurant Le Coq Noir is actually the story of a woman: Marie-Christine Riou, a passionate restaurateur.
She opened her first African restaurant in 1987 in Douala, Cameroon. Inspired by the famous cabaret Le Coq Blanc from the film "La Rumba", she named her first establishment Le Coq Noir, an African fine dining restaurant.
Marie-Christine brought her Le Coq Noir concept from Cameroon to Clichy-sur-Seine (92). The chef draws on her African roots, placing a special emphasis on the sauces that accompany her fish and meat dishes.
